Glass Manufacturing Excellence Award – Jeff Smith, Johns Manville


Jeff Smith, Senior Glass Engineering Technician, Cleburne, TX, has been working in the JM Glass Operations area for 40+ years. He provides advice and hands on explanations to help junior furnace engineers understand furnace upsets, hot repair work, furnace rebuild projects and trouble shooting. 

Jeff has been involved with implementing technology advancements and improving existing technology throughout his career.  He has worked with implementing all electric glass melting technologies on the plant floor for insulation glass and then moved on to implementing melting technologies for continuous filament E-glass. He truly is a role model for those who have the opportunity to associate and learn from him.






Certificate of Appreciation – Rod Gravley, Precision Partners

Rod Gravley of Precision Partners in Newport Beach, CA, was recognized for his huge influence within the glass industry, including over 50 major systems designed. Throughout his decades-long career, Rod helped pioneer the use of optimal air pollution control through ceramic filter technology across a wide range of glass furnaces.

Rod leads by example, through his technical appreciation of both glass furnaces and air pollution control, but also through his unique capability to combine this with hands on and practical problem solving on sites. At Precision Partners, he has brought together a team that delivers holistic support across all aspects of air pollution control and environmental compliance.
