The Society of Glass Technology (SGT) exists to serve people who are interested in the production, properties and uses of glasses of every type. It is a non-profit organisation serving a worldwide membership publishing journals and text books (e.g. Coloured Glasses and Glass Furnaces), hosting conferences, coordinating the activities of special interest groups and technical committees geared to the needs of the glass community (e.g. melting technologies, analysis and properties, basic science). There are three personal membership tiers: Members, Fellows and Honorary Fellows. The SGT holds Furnace Solutions in St Helens in early June and an Annual Meeting in September.
